Rogue One prequel to get own Force Friday event September 2016!
It looks like the next Star Wars movie Rogue One, will be getting it’s own Froce Friday event: September 30th, 2016, according to a report from Starwarsunderworld.com!
I would say this is very exciting, since the last Force Friday event for The Force Awakens was so well received!
Here’s a photo of a new Force Friday logo for Rogue One:
Also there was another recent report from Theforce.net that among a list of names for new Black Series action figures on Rebelscum.com, there was a name for an exclusive unnamed figure. Guess we will have to wait for Force Friday to figure it out.
Identity of First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper revealed
Starwars.com has revealed the identity of the First Order Riot Control Stormtrooper that Finn fought against at Maz’s castle. Here’s a quick look at that scene to remind you:
According to the site:
His name is FN-2199. But his friends call him “Nines.” As detailed in Greg Rucka’s excellent book Before the Awakening, Nines trained and served on a squad with Finn (then FN-2187) in the First Order. That explains why he seems just a little extra angry upon seeing Finn during the attack on Maz’s Castle. You can see FN-2199 in the image below by Phil Noto from Before the Awakening — he’s the trooper seated in the background with red hair. Who’d have thought?
There’s a reason that Nines gets to use an awesome weapon (which is called a Z6 baton). He’s riot control, and part of an elite squad that enforces order or squashes uprisings. While their weapons are non-lethal in theory, the Z6 can definitely cause harm or kill an opponent when used with brute force. Look, if a lightsaber can’t cut it, you know it ain’t good news.
You’ve heard his work before. Kind of! FN-2199’s voice (including, of course, “Traitor!”) was provided by David Acord, a Skywalker Sound sound editor. Acord’s production credits include Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Pretty good training for a stormtrooper. (Inside the armor is Liang Yang, a veteran stunt performer. Without his baton spinning, you wouldn’t be reading this.)
So there you have it — the stormtrooper behind the meme. Let’s hope we haven’t seen the last of Nines. Or TR-8R. Who wouldn’t want to see round two…and all the memes it could inspire?
Here is a concept art photo of him sitting by Phil Noto the trooper with red hair:

Mark Hamill’s Evolution of the Lightsaber Duel shares some interesting facts, footage
The Evolution of the Lightsaber Duel video shows Mark Hamill (famous for The Trickster from The Flash, and voices talents of cartoon characters . . . as well as a small sci-fi movie that opened in 1977) traces the history of Lightsaber duels. He also discusses his own personal history ties to the subject. Since his dad was a captain in the Navy based in Japan, he studied at a high school in Japan for two years and learned about the Japanese culture.
I liked the history of the Samurai and how Mark’s life changed when he met George Lucas (the creator of Star Wars). Mark explained that when it was his turn to do a Lightsaber duel, he first had to work out, study martial arts, and learn Kendo for the very first time. Kendo is the Japanese art of fencing with two-handed bamboo swords, originally developed as a safe form of sword training for samurai.
The best part of the video was George Lucas explaining how he evolved the Lightsaber duels over time, interviews with the actors, and footage of the actors training to get ready for the fighting scenes.

One of my favorite moments of the Star Wars Premiere Red Carpet was seeing Josh Gad (famous for playing Olaf the snowman from Frozen and The Wonder Kid in Pixels) talk about how he was such a big Star Wars fan.
He explained that when The Phantom Menace came out he stood in line for it and had to skip school during his senior year because he was so blown away by the action. Though after seeing all the prequels he did wonder what was coming next! His interview starts at 20:13.
As a big Star Wars fan I hope that none of the main characters die in the movie because with out them how could they destroy the First Order! But perhaps, similar to episode IV, an important character (like Obi-Wan Kenobi) will die in order to spur on the new characters.
However, from looking at the videos of the different Force Awakens trailers, I would say that this is nonsense that Han and Chewie might die. In one of the trailers Rey was scene crying over a body of someone unknown; there is speculation that it was Chewie.
