What will Disneyland build for the new Star Wars Movie?

Disneyland has recently agreed to spend 1 billion dollars to expand the park in Anaheim, CA.

The Orange County Register talked to two Disney experts to speculate on how Star Wars might factor in:

George Lucas had been vying for space at Disneyland for years. The word on the street is that Disney officials were waiting to see how “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” does at the box office before revealing future plans. A Star Wars Land is likely in the expansion because “it has a global audience, and the blueprint could easily be taken around the world.”

Because “heads in beds” (more people staying in Disney hotels) is more lucrative than park ticket sales, Disney could make a “Star Wars”-themed land in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Splitting Star Wars Land could “encourage people to stay longer and visit both parks in order to feel like they’ve seen the whole attraction.”

Star Wars Rebels news: Female Inquisitor has been unmasked!

Shocking news! Today Makingstarwars.net and Starwars7news.com report on the unmasking of one of the new Inquisitors who is going to appear in season 2 of the TV series Star Wars Rebels.

The trailer for the season 2 revealed that there will be two new Inquisitors (who were dispatched by Darth Vader to go after Asoka and the ghost crew). The official Star Wars Rebels magazine from the U.K. has revealed a pair of close-up portraits of the Inquisitors.

Before we go to the unmasking of the female Inquisitor lets start will the male Inquisitor:

Looking at the picture of this male Inquisitor, one thing is certain: the species is unknown, so this guy is a new type of alien that we have never seen before. When this Inquisitor appeared in the trailer for season 2, he looked similar to a Weequay (Hondo Ohnaka’s species), except the teal skin color and lack of wrinkles on his face suggests he isn’t a Weequay at all. One note: the lightsaber that he carries is very similar to the saber that the first Inquisitor used during the first season of Star Wars Rebels.

Now it’s time to move on to the female Inquisitor and see who she really is without the mask. If all of you fans out there think you know who this Inquisitor is, well I am afraid you are wrong!

Here is female Inquisitor’s picture (at top):

Some online speculation theorizes that the new Inquisitor is really Luminara’s apprentice and Asoka’s friend Barris Offee, it turns out that’s wrong. I was almost convinced that it was Barriss because later episodes of “Star Wars the Clone Wars” show Barriss had became disillusioned with both the Republic and the Jedi Order—she bombed the Jedi Temple and set up Ahsoka to take the fall in a murder that she committed. After Anakin found out the truth of Barriss’ involvement and revealed her plan, she was put in prison. Plus that episode also revealed why Ahsoka left the Jedi Order, not only because of Barriss’ betrayal, but also for a number of other reasons.

From looking at the picture of the female Inquisitor above, I can say for certain that this is not Barriss, although there some facial similarities.

Photos of the Barriss (left) and the female Inquisitor (right):

Barriss's face Female Inquisitor's face

As you can see from the comparison of these photos, it confirms that the female Inquisitor’s face doesn’t have Barriss’s facial markings across her nose and cheeks. Plus the color of her eyes and lack of facial markings across the face suggests that she’s not Barriss at all. The color of her eyes do suggest that when using the Dark Side, the irises of the eyes change color which has been done the same way with Palpatine and Anakin (Vader).

Real life Mandalorian Land Speeder!

Real life Mandalorian Land Speeder!

Real life Mandalorian Land Speeder!

On Starwars.com, there’s an interesting story about one Star Wars fan who has made a fully operational Mandalorian Land Speeder—from concept to reality!

Photo of the land speeder:

This is an interesting story about this speeder because it tells about how the project of making this Star Wars vehicle started out by finding some reference data on screen shot images of different speeder models plus Lego versions.

The builders use a 1987 golf cart and, with the help of an electrical engineer, take it apart and then modify it into the land speeder chassis.

The land speeder even has Wi-Fi! Read the whole story here.

What if Star Wars invaded our cities!

On huffingtonpost.com, artist Nicolas Amiard (who is an an art director at an ad agency based in Paris) posted photos that he created of what would happen if our world was invaded by Star Wars.

What amazing pictures!

I would say that these photos that Nicolas Amiard has made are pretty cool and very well thought out. I like how the photos look so realistic; it makes me think that if a clone star destroyer really crashed near San Francisco it would make a good tourist attraction.

Astromech.net: Cool community for robot builders

Astromech.net: Cool community for robot builders

At the Dallas Comic Con, I met the great folks of the Astromech.net website. The site is a community for robot builders. Astromech.net focuses on how people around the world use plans to build their very own remote controlled astromech droids. Droids can either be based on the ones from the Star Wars movies, the cartoon series or more futuristic astromech droids that have not been seen in the movies or in the cartoon.

Created by folks around the world, these astromech droids can be R2, R3, R4, R5 units, etc. When creating an astromech droid you can have it look just like R2-D2 or have it look like a kind of droid with a different head, color, name, or differently shaped eye cam—or perhaps a mix of two colors. Here is an example of a fan-built R2 unit I came across at the Dallas Comic Con.

Me next to R2-D2

The Astromech site has different sections like forums (and chat rooms) that talk about building new droids like BB-8, for example, from The Force Awakens.  Other sections on this site include a FAQ, a Gallery (where you can look at images of R2-D2 and all kinds of the other astromech droids from the movies, cartoons, and in real life), a droid wiki page that discusses droid origins, and a Yahoo group that contains blueprints of what droid that you want to build. The droid wiki page does also include a droid registry page that contains two pages of a list of droids, features, location etc.

On a the droid wiki page of how to build R2-D2 there was link that goes to a site called starwars.wiki.com. On this site it has everything that you can learn more about Artoo’s information, description, known features, and biography for example. The Astromech site even has a quick style chooser at the bottom of the page which allows you to pick standard styles or mobile styles to change the appearance of the site to what you want it to look like.

All in all, Astromech.net is cool site. Anyone who is interested in building new droids should check it out!
